Gallopers thrash Breakers to keep finals hopes alive
GPS continued their late season charge towards the finals with a 52-13 thumping of the Gold Coast Breakers at Ashgrove Sports Ground.
After a solid start, the Breakers were no match for the Gallopers dominant attacking performance, which sewed up an all important bonus point.
A rolling maul try from the Gallopers galvanised the team and was a promising sign for the club with the forward pack in synch all afternoon.
The Gallopers second half dominance was highlighted by Josh Logan’s hat-trick, with the scrum half capitalising on a crushing performance by the GPS pack.
GPS coach Matt Pini was understandably delighted by the performance but aware his side must continue their form to claim a finals berth.
”A lot of hard work has been put in and we are now seeing the rewards,” Pini said.
Breakers coach Tom Rosewarne was left lamenting another disappointing away performance with his side's finals hopes now dashed.
“There was no collective approach to our game today and it’s just really disappointing,” Rosewarne said.
