Easts recovered from a six point halftime deficit to post a convincing 43-30 victory over Sunnybank in Round One of Queensland Premier Rugby.

The Tigers scored six tries to four in an entertaining game, with Easts flyhalf Matt Brandon playing an influential role, controlling the game and contributing six points off the boot.

Easts' centre Toby White bagged a try double, as did fullback and QAS Reds Academy prospect Aidan Toua.

Former schoolboy international and QAS Reds Academy flanker Liam Gill marked his Premier debut for Sunnybank with a try off the bench.

Easts coach Pat Richards said he was “pretty happy” with the result after a nervous start.

“At the beginning we were a bit worried as Sunnybank had a good start,” Richards said.

“But we stuck to the game plan and turned it around.”
