Referee Re-accreditation

It is important for all referees to maintain their accreditation.  Accreditation lasts for four years and if referees wish to maintain their accreditation they are required to meet the ARU re-accreditation policy.  Once completed, the referees accreditation is updated for another four years.

Level 1 Referee

  1. SmartRugby Compliance (current qualification)
  2. Complete Exam - Law and Game Management (90% pass mark)
  3. Succesful completion of Competency Assessment (*)
  4. Complete Update Form
  5. Active participation in each of the four years (10 matches per year)
  6. Cost: Free

Level 2 Referee

  1. SmartRugby Compliance (current qualification)
  2. Complete Exam - Level 2 Law Exam (90% pass mark)
  3. Succesful completion of Competency Assessment (*)

  6. Cost: Free

Level 3 Referee

  2. Complete Exam - Level 2 Law Exam (90% pass mark)

Note: (*) It is expected under normal circumstances, all referees will be seen at least once by a referee coach during the year in which accreditation is to be renewed.  Provided that the referee coaches are satisfied that referee continues to meet the competency standards a formal assessment would not be required.
