Aussie Women win Sevens
Australia are the 2008 Oceania Sevens Women's Champions after defeating New Zealand 22-15 in the final in Apia.
New Zealand opened the scoring but Australia bounced back with a try to Debby Hodgkinson to level the scores at 5-5.
Hodgkinson was also instrumental in Australia's second try, with a bullocking run before off-loading to Ruan Sims to give Australia a 10-5 lead.
New Zealand levelled the scores at 10-all before the break before Ruan Sims scored her second try to put the Australian noses in front again.
The Kiwis pulled back to level the scores again and each side threw everything into the battle to tip the balance as fulltime approached.
In the end it was the Kiwis who faltered, with Nicole Beck scoring the decider right on fulltime for the Australians.
The Aussies now get to contest the IRB World Cup of Sevens next year in Dubai.
Three Queenslanders are in the Aussie Sevens squad: Iliseva Batibasaga, Trisha Brown and Selena Tranter
